Hello there. I’m not from America and that may influence my answer. “Import cars” deliver more hp/gallon and more maneuvrablilty. Of course, the mustang is a great american symbol. In the end the question remains: you want more show or more go?

370z.

More power, quicker, handles much better with the track tuned suspension. It’s a real sports car.

0-60mph in 4. 7 seconds compared to 5. 2 seconds for the Mustang GT
3. 7L V6 with 332HP compared to 4. 6L V8 with 315HP for the Mustang GT
The Z is more than 100lbs lighter and much more aerodynamic.
Top Speed of 155mph limited compared to 149mph unlimited for the Mustang GT.

Mustang GT has lots of old technology from the older 2005-2008 model. Same engine, new Intake and ECU tuning.
The 370z is all new.

The 370z is slightly quicker and it does handle better. However it is a bit more expensive, by about $1000. The 370z is a full-on 2-seat sports car whilst the Mustang is a pony/muscle car. When you option up the Sport Package for the 370z the price rises to $33k. A track-pack equipped Mustang is about $31k.

The cars are pretty comparable, and very close in terms of bang for the buck. I would go with the Mustang since it’s going to be cheaper to mod and a little cheaper in the initial purchase. The 370z is an excellent car though and I must give kudos to Nissan for making it smaller and lighter than it’s predecessor. With that said the 2011/2012 Mustang is rumored to be getting the 5. 0L DOHC “coyote” V8 with around 400 HP.
