Does a convertible raise insurance costs more compared to a regular coupe or sedan?
Excluding other factors like personal history, brand name, safety...would an average convertible cost more than the same car that is not a convertible (i.e. ford mustang)

I hate the say it but its not to car that determines the cost, the only thing you really have to take into account is your history. I work as an underwriter ad ive seen convertible corvettes worth over $80,000 and the insured person is paying only 50$ a month, but hes been driving for 30 years, has no accidents or tickets, then there is the young 21 year old whos daddy buys it for him and goes to insure it and hes paying $600 a month for the insurance. I can tell you its not the vehicle that determines cost (it determines maybe 3%), its the risk! Which is you
So you need to take into account all your faults the last 6 years of driving to see if theres anything against you that could influence the rates, or you can call your insurance company and ask them for a quote for a certain vehicle just to see.
