I haven’t bought this game yet. I have been playing the demo for couple hours now. First impression is that GTA plays just like EA’s F1 2002. Other than that, the only different is that GTA has better graphic and sound than F1 2002. The environment has better detail and the sound effect is very good. The sound track has the same Techno tone from the NFS series.

I set both F1 and GTA to 1600x1200x32 with the highest detail. Both run well but GTA does not run as smooth as F1 2002. So, I set GTA to 1024x768x16 but this doesn’t make any different. This makes playing GTA not as fun as playing F1 2002. The you-are-there kinda feel is not there in GTA.

So, If you have fast machine with fast video card (3+ GHz and a $300+ video), and you have never played EA’s F1 2002 before, I will highly recommand this game. Otherwise, stick with F1 2002.

I run Windows XP x64, and did not know that GTR FIA GT Racing Game was incompatible with the operating system. The newly released GT Legends (released 02/06/06) and the soon to release GTR 2 (releasing summer of ’06) will run on 64-bit operating systems.

Although this game is a great game for computer, it does have a few drawbacks. One of which, is the Starforce copy protection. With Starforce, there have been problems with certain systems and may even cause your drives to quit working. Be careful when using discs with starforce copy protection.

As mentioned in another post, one of the more angrier posters said that you need to put the cd in every time. This is true, but the stuff that the angry poster is doing (no-cd cracks) are considered illegal and can end up voiding out your warranty, not to mention some of them even have viruses. Just because the angry reviewer can’t find a no-cd crack and sees that having a cd in the drive when playing is stupid. ALMOST ALL NEW GAMES ARE LIKE THIS!

Overall, GTR is an excellent game with many tracks and many upgrades available. If you go to a site like http://www.bhmotorsports.com, you can download a ton of different skins and mods for this game. Going to the official site, you can download new cars and even new tracks!

Save your money if you’re into this type of racing game and get GTR-2. Much better graphics, more cars, but it’s a sim, racing game. It does take some time to get used to the drive-ability of the cars. I’m big racing gamer, all the NFS’s, Juiced, LeMans 24 hour, whatever I can find. This is one was good for it’s time, but there’s better out there.
