what size tires do i need for my rims? 99 mustang?

i need to know what size tires i need on my rims. i have the wrong size tire on there now and there too big and rub. im pretty sure there not OEM mustang rims and that there replicas because these are 18 inch and the biggest ford made for the 99 was the cobra rims 245/45R17. Is there a way to find out the model of the rims or brand or serial number or something to find out the exact dimensions??

right now i have 235/55/18 on there and went i turn all the way u can hear and feel them rub

if they r rubbing you may not to change the second number(55) never change the last number unless you change rims it’s dangerous. try low profile tires.

to be honest i wouldn’t of bought a mustang anyway. . . but moving on to your question i would leave the 55 the same and just drop the height down. . to possibly a 225 or smaller depending on what you like. . .

Your problem is that the tires on your Mustang have too high an aspect ratio. They stick up more than an inch and a half higher in the wheel well. 18 inch and even 19 inch wheels should be workable on your car with lower-profile tires.

You could put 275/35R18 tires on your car and they should solve the rubbing problem. They are only 3 cm wider than stock, and have a rolling circumference within 0. 4% of the OE tires, so they won’t be too high, and your speedometer and odometer will be accurate again. (Now you’re going 71 mph when your speedometer says 65. )

If you are determined to return to 17 inch wheels, and want tires wider than the OE size, 275/40R17s have a rolling circumference that is almost identical.
